As the UK’s biggest public service department we are proud to be responsible for administering the State Pension and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits to around 20 million claimants and customers.

You could be working in one of our Job Centres helping move people into work or dealing with allowances or benefits in one of our service centres, as well as many other opportunities to work on the front line, for example in Child Maintenance Service or Retirement Services.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the role you must fulfil the following criteria.

  • Be eligible to work in the UK. This is a non-reserved post and is open
  • Be able to provide ALL of the documents we need to complete your pre-employment screening and security clearance.

Candidates will be subject to UK immigration requirements as well as Civil Service nationality rules. Please be aware that foreign or dual nationality is not an automatic bar. However certain posts may have restrictions which could affect those who do not have sole British nationality or who have personal connections with certain countries outside the UK. Security

To apply for roles in DWP you will need to confirm your employment history for at least 3 years prior to the date of application so that pre-employment checks (BPSS) can be undertaken. If you have spent significant time abroad (a total of 6 months in the past 3 years) you would be required to give a reasonable account of the reasons why. People working with government assets must complete basic personnel security standard checks.

For roles in Counter Fraud Compliance and Debt (CFCD) there may be additional checks as you may require enhanced security clearance.
